Unlike essential oils drawn from living plants, amber oil cannot be steam distilled. Fossilized resin simply doesn't yield oil that way. Instead, it's produced through dry distillation, a process in which amber resin is heated at high temperatures until it releases a rich, oily substance. This rapid distillation method is less likely to damage the oil's active aromatic components, preserving the full integrity of this ancient material. My amber oil is sourced from India.

✦ Ways to Use Amber Essential Oil

In Blends Add to your own essential oil blends as a grounding base note and fixative. A little goes a long way with this richly concentrated oil.

Diffuse It Add 1–2 drops to a room diffuser or aromatherapy necklace for a warm, meditative atmosphere.

Make a Room Spray Combine 15–20 drops with 2 oz. of distilled water in a spray bottle. Shake well before each use and mist your space for an earthy, grounding ambiance.
